The recent move by Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Committee on Government Reform and Oversight, to subpoena scores of documents from Attorney General Eric Holder regarding the Fast and Furious debacle hardly comes as a surprise.

The testimony before the Oversight committee by Holder and numerous officials from the Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies was a clinic on obfuscation -- and it left Issa with little choice.

NRA to sue over new gun-sale reporting rules

The National Rifle Association is suing the Obama administration over a new rule that requires U.S. gun dealers in the Southwest to report multiple rifle sales to a single person, according to a draft copy of a complaint.

The lawsuit — a copy of which was made available to The New York Times — is filed on behalf of two gun dealers in Arizona, where the reporting requirements are expected to go into effect later this month along with Texas, California and New Mexico. An estimated 8,500 gun dealers will be affected.

Terry. Terry was cut down by an AK-47 sold by the Arizona’s Lone Wolf Trading Company gun store in an ambush with Mexican gangbangers. Terry, who also served in the Marines, bled out before he could get proper medical attention.

On May 3, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa's committee that he only learned about the government's sale of weapons to Mexican drug cartels "in the last few weeks."

Texas county official says "stupid" feds sparked fire.

(Reuters) - The fight between Texas and Washington, D.C., over wildfires in the Lone Star State just got nastier


A county official in the Texas Panhandle is now blaming a federal agency for starting one of the fires through carelessness.

Tom Edwards, the county attorney in rural Motley County east of Lubbock, said on Friday that the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives was responsible on Tuesday for sparking a fire that consumed 150 acres.

ATF joining investigation into mosque fire

Editors Note: Just wondering why the ATF has jurisdiction over an arson investigation because "...a mosque was involved."

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Federal investigators are joining the investigation into a fire that destroyed a mosque and damaged a nearby church in Stockton over the weekend.

Helen Dunkel, an investigator with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, told KXTV that the bureau was getting involved in the case because a mosque was involved.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. -- A gun that was seized as evidence is being auctioned off by Lawrence County.

The district attorney said the gun was seized in an armed robbery and the county has kept it locked up because of its value. The 1928 Thompson Sub Machine Gun is worth thousands, according to district attorney Joshua Lamancusa.

Lamancusa said because the county could use the extra money, they've decided to auction it off.

"This is worth $20,000 to $50,000 and we want to put it out there to the general public to buy. It's a way to pay for a car for the sheriff's department that we need," Lamancusa.
